Using port 500 on two computers at the same time would violate the one program rule, and your data would get messed up. This means that you can only use port 500 on one computer on the network at a time. If you have set up a port forwarding rule for computer 1 and port 500, the external ip address's port 500 is also in use.
When computer 1 is using port 500, it is using port 500 on it's internal ip address. Well you've only got one external ip address on your router. But I would think that your router would know which data goes where.ĭon't forget that you need to open your ports too for your friend. Now if two machines are doing it then I can see why that would cause a problem. When the information (data) is sent back to you, the NAT will change it back from the Public IP address to your internal IP address and sends the data to your machine. Basically it will turn your internal IP address into your Public IP address (the IP address that your ISP provides). LOL, actually I think i understand what they meant by not having two people on the same network on the same time.
